Butch's Barn Project 2009 & 2010
As most of you know my Dad is building a little addition to
our barn.
He currently has a 30 x 50 pole barn it has a 21 x 50 foot lean to on the
side of it. In the 30 x 50 part he has his shop in part of it. His
shop is 30 x 30. It has concrete, heat, refrigerator, kegerator, popcorn
popper, pc with internet, and 3 TV's. It is often referred to as the
"Sports Barn".
We started this process in May of 2009 getting quotes, June
2009 we put a deposit down on it, July we found out we had to go before the
zoning board to get a permit, August we went before the board and got approved.
September 21, 2009 they started moving dirt!!!
While we were waiting for the zoning board meeting and the
dirt work, we decided to put concrete in the back part of the existing barn. It
is 20 x 30. BUT.... if you have been to our house and went in the barn,
you would know that the area we want to concrete is FULL of stuff. Luckily
for us, maybe not my Dad, he had to go to Omaha for the week. Guess what I
(Jill) did!! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. When he came back he had just a few heavy
items to move. The rest was cleaned out!!! He didn't even get to go
dumpster diving!!!
So now in the new 20 x 30 concreted area of the existing barn
he has relocated his saws, drill press, bolt bin, and other larger tools.
It has really opened up his shop.
The new barn is going to be attached to the existing barn, but
turned a little. It will be 51 foot wide and one wall will be 64 foot and
the other wall will be 80 foot. We had to put the angle in so we didn't
loose any "view" from the house. We are going to need a lot of dirt to
make the new barn level. My Dad decided to take the dirt from our
property. It will actually be a lot better with the "hill" gone.
I will start first with before pictures:
